AFTERMATH: AFTER THE BODY PARTS SWAP JUTSU

PART 2: HINATA HYUGA

Hinata Hyuga was usually the first one up in the house, so she wasn't surprised to find herself cooking breakfast for the rest of the family. Twenty minutes later, her father Hiashi Hyuga, the head of the Hyuga clan, and her little sister Hanabi walked in the dining room to enjoy her cooking. She was grateful that they still treated her no differently from before the surgery she had to have.

(10-11 years ago)

When she was five years old, Hinata was enjoying a carefree childhood. One day, however, she suddenly felt sick and had to be taken to the hospital. The doctors there were able to recognize her problem as a rare eye disease that would render her blind within three weeks. Hiashi Hyuga was distraught at the prospect of his eldest daughter losing a bright and prosperous future, and asked if there was something that could be done.

The doctors told him that there was a procedure that could save her eyesight, but there was a price. An eye transplant would have to be performed, one that required the donor to have the same eye condition as Hinata. The disease would be destroyed if the eyes were removed from their owner's body, but could come back a hundred times stronger if the same eyes were put back.

Hinata was now scared for her life. She wanted to be able to take over as Head of the Clan, but knew that the odds of finding another person with this same disease were astronomical. She was just about to give up when she heard a voice say, "I can help you guys out."

Everyone looked at the door to find another patient in the hospital: Naruto Uzumaki. Hinata never met Naruto before, but heard from her friend Sakura about Naruto being born with a girl's lower half. As it turned out, Naruto was diagnosed with the same eye disease Hinata had, so there was a chance Hinata could continue the family legacy.

Just before Hiashi could grant his approval for the operation, one of the Hyuga Clan's elders arrived and tried to forbid the surgery.

"We cannot afford to hand over the Byakugan to someone outside the clan. I'm sorry, but Hinata will just have to live with it."
Hiashi was furious. "How can you be so strict about this? My daughter is about to be stricken blind, and you're going to rob her of the one chance of a cure available?"

"The Hyuga clan's secrets must take the top priority in this matter. Hinata is far too young to make a decision like this with a level head, and you're too overprotective of her to do the right thing. I have to take over to do what is best for the clan."

"Y…You don't have to. I've already made up my mind."

Everyone turned to look as Hinata, who was sitting up in her hospital bed. "I understand that the Byakugan is our clan's most closely guarded secret and that there should be nothing done to jeopardize its protection. However, I…I feel that it is the Head of the Clan who makes the final decisions about who to reveal the secrets to. Father, I…I want to go ahead with the surgery. I don't care what anyone else thinks."

Hiashi couldn't believe the level of maturity her daughter had displayed. He was also equally surprised when Naruto decided to put in his two cents.

"Excuse me, Lord Hyuga, but I really want to help out in any way I can. If I have to help guard your Byakugan's secrets, then so be it. As long as I can help out my friends, I'll pay any price. Believe it!"

Hiashi smiled at the boy and told the doctors, "Proceed with the transplant."

The elder was furious. "Did you not hear a word I've just said? We can't hand over our clan's secrets to anyone on a whim!"

Hiashi turned to the man and told him, "You obviously did not listen to what this young man said. He told me that he was willing to help guard our secret alongside us if the case may be. That should be proof enough to you that I'm not making a foolish decision. Besides, I want my daughter to have a prosperous life, and blindness does not factor into that equation. I'm sorry, but my decision is final. Hinata and Naruto will go through with this eye transplant."

The Hyuga elder left in a huff, while Hiashi talked with the doctor about how the transplant would work. Naruto walked over to Hinata and said, "Well, I'm glad everything's working out for us. Aren't you?"

Hinata just stared at Naruto with a red face and twiddled her fingers in front of her. "S…Sure, Naruto. Of course I am," was all Hinata could muster after an awkward moment of silence.

(Present day)

Hinata thought back to that day and couldn't help but blush. 'That was the first time I ever met Naruto,' she thought. She stared at her reflection in the water pot for a while; staring at the blue eyes Naruto had given her in exchange for her Byakugan eyes. 'I…I can't help but love him for his selflessness. Oh, I'd give anything to marry him.'

"HINATA! WHAT'S HOLDING UP BREAKFAST?"

Hinata jumped as she heard her sister cry out in hunger. "C…Coming!" she yelled from the kitchen. She carefully brought breakfast out to her sister and father, then joined them to eat her own breakfast.

"So, Hinata, do you have any big plans today?" Her father asked.

"Well, Kiba, Shino and Kurenai-sensei are away on a mission, so I was thinking about doing some more training."

Hanabi poked her head up and asked her, "Can I come with you this time?"

"Sure, Hanabi. I'd like that."

After breakfast, Hinata and Hanabi went to a training ground that Hinata frequently used. Along the way, they passed some Hyuga clan members, but they simply ignored them. Hinata felt sad. These were people who had decided that Hinata was a traitor to the clan for giving up her Byakugan eyes. Even with Naruto's eyes, she could still perform her Byakugan, but she figured it was the fact that Naruto now had true Byakugan eyes that had them upset.

Hanabi then tugged her sister's arm. "Hey, Hinata, is that Naruto over there?"

Hinata looked up to see Naruto doing some training of his own. Hinata turned red when she saw him. He was wearing his usual jacket with a black shirt underneath. He also wore shorts that showed off his smooth legs and round butt well. What got Hinata the most excited, however, were his eyes. Although they did belong to her at one point, Hinata couldn't imagine Naruto with any other eyes. She felt they reflected his character well.

Naruto looked over to where Hinata and Hanabi were and smiled. "Hey, there. How's it going?"

Hinata just blushed furiously. "W…Well, N-Naruto, I…I mean, we…"

Hanabi cut in. "Hinata is going to help me train to get stronger."

Naruto's smile grew wider. "That sounds like fun. May I join you?"

Hinata felt like she was going to faint any moment. She managed to get through it, however, and said, "S…Sure, Naruto. I'd love that."

For the rest of the morning and most of the afternoon, Hinata and Naruto helped train Hanabi in how to use the Byakugan. Naruto had gotten to be a proficient wielder of the Byakugan; his skills were close to rivaling those of Neji Hyuga, who could use Byakugan better than Hinata could. Hanabi was sure she was receiving the best possible training.

Naruto had to leave that afternoon to do some scouting around the Fire Temple, so Hinata and Hanabi walked home. Hanabi looked up at her sister and said, "I'm glad you decided to take me along. I feel like I'm almost at your level now."

Hinata laughed. "I think it's going to be a few more years before you're ready to compete with me."

"Well, maybe you're right, but still, what are the chances I get to train with you and Naruto. I didn't think you'd survive long enough to…Hinata?"

Hanabi looked back and saw Hinata passed out on the ground. 'I guess she was just holding it in for too long,' Hanabi thought as she dragged Hinata to the Hyuga estate.

An hour later, Hinata woke up and realized that she was inside her home. Her father was standing over her.

"You really need to learn to get that under control, Hinata. I'm sure Hanabi's tired of dragging you home every night."

Hinata blushed. "S…Sorry, Father."

Hiashi smiled. "It's all right, Hinata. It's getting late. You should head to bed."

Hinata went to her room and put on a simple nightgown. She looked out the window and stared at the moon. The moon looked a lot like Naruto's eyes, calm and serene. Hinata soon drifted off to sleep where she would dream of her and Naruto living happily ever after.
Part 2 of my series. Again, I would strongly recommend reading the original series written by [link] , especially [link]

Again, all comments are welcome. Just don't try to be too harsh. I would just snap.
