It’s scary movie time for many people, but here’s a random fact about the costume of one of your favorite Halloween villains: Michael Myers from “Halloween.”

The movie was made on a very tight budget, so the prop department had to buy the cheapest mask they could find at a Halloween store. It only cost two dollars, and they later spray-painted the mask white, altered the eyeholes and teased the hair to get the iconic Michael Myers mask we know today.

So, what mask was altered to make Michael Myers’ mask? None other than Star Trek’s William Shatner!!

Shatner himself had no idea that it was his own mask that was being used in the movie. It wasn’t until someone mentioned it to him in an interview that he knew. Since then, he has reportedly said that the gesture was a great honor for him.
